Distressed denim is the best denim

How beautiful is this street! It wasn't looking to be the nicest of weather this day, so this called for my warmest of clothing - denim on denim. I love the distressed raw edges to this top, especially against this contrasting corduroy white skirt. I actually own the cutest denim tote bag which would have been the perfect match to this outfit, and SO not over the top.. Sadly,  it was at home.

PS. please do not look to closely at my skirt it these photos, it has more creases than Russel Brands bed sheets. (Guys, the rolling your clothes in your case technique does not work!)

lake BLED - Travel Diary.

We're in Slovenia bled! Take a sneak peak into one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, Lake Bled. (Please excuse some of the photo quality, a lot were taken on my phone)

We arrived in Bled, mouths open, as we walked to towards the lake. It's such a beautiful area, the little adventure town surrounds the stunning fresh water, emerald green lake - pictures do not even do this justice (especially not mine). It has everything you'd imagine in a fairytale town, from a castle on the edge of the cliff to a church floating in the middle of a lake surrounded by rowing boats... Enter Holly and I.

Day 1

Our first day was filled with bright blue skies, so we took to the small swimming area located on the edge of the lake for a chilled afternoon in the sun. The water is so clear and fresh, it was actually nice to see little fish casually swimming past rather than imagining sharks nibbling at your ankles in the dark depths of the sea- not to say we didn't freak out still.

There is only a small area you can swim in, but it turned out to be much further than we thought. I was starting to regret those skipped gym sessions when I'd only swam half way across and was being weighed down by the mounds of cheese I've eaten this year - Nice to know I'd go out with a good view though.

We stayed at 1A Adventure hostel which was a little further out of town than we thought, but it ran two free shuttle buses a day and was such a great place to stay! Although the next doors church bells that went off everyday at 7am still haunt me. Over 100 rings every morning. Yes I counted.

Around the corner from the hostel was the BEST Italian. We basically lived on Pizza (dinner and breakfast) and moscato wine for 3 days straight - well worth the food baby.  Not to mention that view!

Day 2

We took a walk up to the castle on the hill, and Bled, that was steep. We may have sweated enough to fill lake bled once we got to the top, but it was well worth the climb. We obviously had to reward ourselves wth some cider and ice cream at the top.

Sitting on castle walls.

There's a cute little wine cellar in the castle, so we popped in for a look and came out with wine to match our star signs -we like to feel cool and spiritual whilst pre-drinking from a mug in our hostel.

We then spent a good half an hour chilling with this CUTEST DOG outside. Miss ya Billy.

In the afternoon we planned to go paddle boarding on the lake, but alas 16 Irish girls took the 15 remaining paddle boards 5 seconds before us - Luck of the Irish ay. Genuinely was a tad upset I didn't get to watch Holly fall in the water repeatedly for a solid hour.

Anyway, we took the next best option and rowed across the lake to the church in the middle. After watching countless chick flicks over my life, this looked easy as pie. I was wrong - Ryan Gosling is clearly a lot stronger than he looks.

Good job we weren't on a romantic trip, because those rowing faces weren't pretty. (Disclaimer, pictures do not show the struggle)

Once we got the hang of it it was surprisingly therapeutic, rowing away whilst singing along to Rihanna's recent album at the top of our lungs. Nailed it.

Day 3

There are sooo many activities to do in bled! We'd planned to go on an elaborate full day adventure, full of hikes and rafting with dinner in Italy(?!), but typically us brits brought over the English weather and it rained, so the tour was cancelled.

So instead of crying over our toast at breaky, we booked onto the white water rafting trip that our hostel had arranged. Luckily, this was a lot cheaper and still super fun! Although I could cut a slice of cheddar with my nipples after jumping in that water.

We were starving after rafting so this veggie grill really hit the spot.

"Stand there while I take an arty photo of you smelling the flowers", *falls in*.

This ice cream was amazing but the air was so humid and windy! As soon as it was handed to me, it had basically already dripped all down my arm, leg, toes ears ect.. (still stopped for a photo though, duh). I've never had to eat an ice cream so fast in my life, more ended up down my top than in my mouth. If you've seen that vine of a racoon accidentally melting it's candy floss, that was me.

We ended up riding bikes again in the afternoon and cycling around the lake. It actually turned out to be a better view from the over side- shame about the clouds. It only took us about 20 minutes (excluding photo stops) to get all the way around the lake on bikes, so we had to celebrate with a icy cocktail. Bikes are so underrated!

That's it for Bled! Chow for now.
