Adventure time in Czech republic - Part One

I recently visited Czech republic with my boyfriend after saying we wanted to go for the last year. It's actually a super cheap place to visit if you're on a budget yet is so beautiful whether you visit the capital or the country side. We love an adventure, so decided to make the most of our time and do both.

Luckily for us Ash, said boyfriend, has a family friend from Czech republic who kindly hooked us up with our own place to stay and a car. They are genuinely the nicest family as well, it's so lovely having someone local to recommend places to go and help us learn how to pronounce their language (can't say that happened but we tried).

On our first full day we took the car out and followed the Sat Nav towards Adršpach. Driving on the other side of the road in Czech is actually really simple if you ever get the chance, not that i did much of the driving.

It all went so well until Ash followed the Sat nav a little too closely and took us on a trip down a foot path towards a dead end. I did start to panic whilst thinking of ways we'd let Aleš know that is car is currently miles away in a ditch, as we reversed sheepishly back onto the road - It's safe to say Ash got a bit hot under the collar.

Anywho, as you can see from the pictures we made it to Adršpach (car intact) and it was soooo beautiful! It's a national nature reserve full of massive rock formations and waterfalls, definitely worth a visit! There's a lot of walking and climbing but there is so much to see.

This was all perfect until we stupidly took a route which we thought was just a small walk away. One hour later we're still walking through the forrest (gone are the beautiful views) with no clue where we are; I'm slightly regretting wearing sandals at this point. We did finally find an exit but we ended up in another town and had to hop on a bus back to the car. We're not up to this walking business.

Deffo should have stuck to the childs route ...

(All photos above taken before the walk of death)

We did end the day meeting up with our Czech pals over some great veggie tapas style food at a local restaurant, so all ended well.

As this was supposedly a rainy day, we decided to go to Hradec Králové for lunch and a wonder, I just can't get enough of squares surrounded in multi coloured buildings and restaurants especially when they're not full of tourists. It's such a photogenic place, I may have taken a few too many pictures - But what's new?

Finding veggie food in Czech is literally like looking for drug store products up in Kylie Jenners make-up bag.

On the bright side, I'm super indecisive so it makes choosing a meal a lot quicker. Anyway we happened to find an amazing restaurant with a view of the square and had the nicest lunch of green Risotto and grilled portobello mushrooms with potatoes and something I can't remember (too busy eating to take notes).

On the next day we took the challenge of climbing to the top of mount Snežka, which is 1,603M high in case you're wondering (thanks wikipedia). We of course took the hardest route which took us up through the valley as it was the the most scenic option. It really was worth the climb though, even if it felt like we were walking vertically for most of it - Calf muscles on fleek.

Pictures don't even do these views justice, the whole journey was so so so beautiful in person. It was also a lot higher then it looks in all these photos, if you follow me on snap chat you'd know the struggle. I basically created by own waterfall.

2-3 hours later we made it to the top, yay! You can't really tell how high it is but we were absolute hot messes, as you can see. We were so dead we had to take the cable car down - I do enjoy a cable car though.

We ended the day by going for the most delicious BBQ and catching up with everyone over a bottle of wine and halloumi & veg skewers. All you need in life.

Nové Mêsto nad Metují - Our final stop while we stayed in Josefov. Try saying that after a bottle of wine (or sober for that matter).  There isn't too much to do here so we had a little wander around the castle and enjoyed some pizza and ice cream.

It's probably not likely that many of you will visit the town I stayed in as it's not a touristy area, but if you are passing through you must try a Texmex veggie burger. The main gist is a fried egg and grilled cheese, but omg I do not know how they make it so good - Junior, i'm jealous of you probably eating one right now.

Anyway, that's it for part one. Next stop Prague! I hope this has made someone want to go on an adventure holiday.
