Clothes are for life, not just for Christmas

Welcome to yet another post of me nonchalantly looking away from the camera. In true spirit of my blog, here's some throwback outfit shots. I recently rediscovered these pictures from a trip to Notting Hill last year and I'm not too sure why I never published them.

Anywho, it got be thinking about outfit repeating and keeping hold of your favourite pieces - who even has time to wear an outfit once and sell it on depot straight after. Lazy girl probs.

From flicking through these pictures, I'd definitely still wear this outfit one year on. Of course fashion changes all the time and I can't say I don't love a signature trend piece, but it's ok to stay real and re-wear your beloved cosy white jumper year after year.

Everyone hates to spend top dollar on simple pieces, but these are the ones that will last and help build up many amazing looks to too come. ... and those that aren't too simple, just keep them for your kids (or yourself) - everything comes back around and I've definitely made the most of my mums 80s throwbacks over the years. Vintage darling.

So, just remember when you're umming and ahhing over that slightly over priced *insert item of clothing here*, clothes are for life, not just for Christmas.

Motivation for the Lazy

It's been a while since I've sat down and got my s**t together, so I now have a back log of fashion content to post. In true new years spirit, I'm back in the blogging game for 2017 ... in February.

I took these shots back in December and I still would of course still wear this outfit (sparkles aren't just for Christmas), but it's got me thinking about my work ethic.

I'm not going to lie, I can be lazy as f**k. When you take time creating content which doesn't pay your bills or and it isn't helping towards your career, the fun can sometimes be sucked out of it. However, working hard does pay off so I'm sticking with it and I'm talking all things motivation.

Not to be hypocritical (as obvs there is a current lack of motivation showing in content) but heres a few things that work for me and I'll be continuing with from now on.

1) Tidying - Coming from someone who's room tends to resemble Tracy Emin's work (please search 'My bed' If you're sure what I mean), I tend to struggle with this the most. After a spring clean, I'm always 100 times more motivated and ready to get s**t done. A clear room really does clear the mind - I'm so cliché, I hate myself.

2) Set an alarm. I don't like to waste my day, so this one is easy. When I'm going to bed, I make sure i'll get at least 8 hours (I can't survive on less) and set my alarm for about 8am ish. If I then go to the gym or get showered and ready straight away, I always get so much out of my day. Lying in bed for hours starts of a lazy day.

3) Lists - I used to always avoid making lists because I'd I write down every single thing that needs to be done in the foreseeable future. Then I'd take one look at it, stress, and find a way to distract myself. Planning your time can be so helpful, so to get myself in the game, I love buying new stationary/note books/planners. I then like to keep my lists sweet and simple, so I only plan what I can realistically get done so I'm not disappointed and always lagging behind.

4) Go somewhere new to work. It's easy for me to get in the habit of waking up, going down stairs in my PJs and getting my laptop out on the sofa in front of the TV.  This is the same place I'd go to chill, so I'm easily distracted from work here (I.e watching This Morning on my days of - Phillip Schofield is bae). When I have things to do such as editing or writing, I'm a lot more productive when I'm sat at a table or in a coffee shop (if I'm feeling spontaneous).

5) Inspiration - Obviously, a lot of creative content is found on social media, especially fashion blogs. I used to look at Instagram like a bible and would constantly be up to date, but recently I've been getting a bit bored and haven't bothered with it, which has definitely affected my work.

It's so important to source new inspiration when you're feeling this way. After searching for new bloggers/artists/photographers work I always get a rush of motivation. Reading an interesting post or seeing a different style of photography always inspires be so get working on something new.

6) Don't juggle too much at once. Finally, the hardest one for me. Start one task and complete it before moving on to the next. I rarely have less than 20 tabs open on my laptop and i like to think of my self as an amazing multi-tasker (is that even a word?!). This always makes every task take so much longer than if I completed it and moved onto the next after.

I hope this inspired someone to get their arse in gear. if not, it's got me thinking. More blogs to come.

Distressed denim is the best denim

How beautiful is this street! It wasn't looking to be the nicest of weather this day, so this called for my warmest of clothing - denim on denim. I love the distressed raw edges to this top, especially against this contrasting corduroy white skirt. I actually own the cutest denim tote bag which would have been the perfect match to this outfit, and SO not over the top.. Sadly,  it was at home.

PS. please do not look to closely at my skirt it these photos, it has more creases than Russel Brands bed sheets. (Guys, the rolling your clothes in your case technique does not work!)

Ljubljana! Slovenia - Part One.

Welcome to Ljubljana (lubujana, ljjuanna, lublijana, ljubanna ljsfdhff). To this day, I'm still not 100% sure how to pronounce the name of Slovenia's capital. Forever sounding super cultural whist meeting people, when the first question asked would always be ''so where have you been so far'' - Yeah you know the one, ''Lbjunaniajbfbf".

Anyway, to get you up to speed. My best pal, Holly, and I spent the whole summer trying to decide on a mini Eastern Europe road trip we could fit into 12 days. Just 5 days before we left, we finally decided on Slovenia and Croatia! It looked beautiful and I don't know a lot of people who've visited here before, which made it even more exciting to see with fresh eyes (Such hipster trend setters, I know).

Whist on our trip around Slovenia, you find out pretty quickly that most people visiting are either from neighbouring European countries or on a massive inter-railing trip and this is just a small stop off. But if you think Slovenia isn't worth a proper visit, you're very mistaken - Please feel free to add Slovenia to your wish list over my next few blog posts.

We were so happy when we arrived in the city and our bargin hostel was right in the centre of everything! - We checked in super quickly to explore. I'm very much a feminist, but sometimes, when you've been on a flight since 6am, you just need to flutter your eye lashes a bit until the receptionist offers to carry your 22kg suitcase up 3 very steep flights of stairs so you don't die before your holiday begins.

Strenuous exercise avoided, we headed to one of the first cafe's we saw which happened to be the cutest veggie cafe! It was right by the buzzing weekend market where bands played in the streets - this was also where I had the best vegan cheese burger I've ever eaten in my life.

We spent the afternoon exploring the streets and eyeing up places to eat and drink later on in the night. It turns out Ljubljana one of the smallest capitals I've been too and can be easily walked round in a 1 or 2 days. Cafe's and bars line the river which runs through the city and streets behind are full of various other restaurants - all in all, making it a very tough decision to decide where we want to eat when theres only 3 meals in a day.

Night time views whilst crossing the river. (Dress from First and I -ASOS). We had a perfect night, bar hopping along the river side drinking fancy (strong) cocktails while the sunset. All was great until we entered our room later on that night.

Turns out we actually booked a sauna in our hostel instead of a room to sleep in?! Our room was on the top floor with a skylight and omg, was HOT. We did eventually sleep 3 hours later - butt naked and spread eagle, as close to the fan (which could be mistaken for a hair dryer in many salons)  as humanly possible.

I'm pleased to let you know we survived the ordeal. There was no hot water left when we got up, but luckily we were so hot from our night in the fire place, it was actually quite nice. Although, uni sex showers are not the one -Hostel fun.

On our way to breakie we came across the Sunday antique flee market which was sooo cute! We would have bought so much stuff if we had room in our case. Although holly had her eye on an antique light which was almost half the size of me, so that was never going to happen.

We decided to take a trip on the funicular (because we're lazy) up to the top of the castle for a drink above the city. If you've read my blog before, you'll know I bloody love a good view. We also realised there was quite a few areas we still wanted to visit after looking over the edge.

Love lock bridge.

One of our favourite things we did in Ljubljana was renting bikes - once I'd forced Holly on to one of course. They only cost roughly £2 for 2 hours and we got to see the whole city in this time! The whole of Ljubljana is completely flat, so riding a bike is effortless and you get a well needed breeze if you're visiting in summer.

Riding through lanes full of graffiti and street art in the Metelkova district - Not a bare wall in site.

Chilling in the park in the middle of the city to cool down.

Food in Slovenia is mostly meat based stews or Italian dishes being so close to Italy. I can't eat the meat side, so ate mostly ate pasta and Pizzas, which was great as it's my favourite type of food.

For our final evening, we took a boat tour around the city. It was nice to enjoy a glass of wine while we floated along the river, however you don't see much more that you would walking around - I wouldn't put it on my top things to do if you've got little time.

On our final day in the capital, we popped back to our favourite veggie cafe for a good old avo on toast, before buying a bus ticket and heading off on our next adventure - TO BE CONTINUED.
