So I'm not going to lie to you all, this post was written quite a while ago but I'm gonna style it out because I still dig this outfit. It may look like summer when you're starring at those sun lit blossom trees out the window, but you know it's still chilly.
I'm a strong believer that you can wear every type of clothing throughout winter (and early spring), even your summer faves! As long as you keep your torso warm, you'll be fine.
Quite a high percentage of my wardrobe is filled with skirts and culottes - they're cosy and easily interchangeable, so why not wear them while you're de-icing your car? Here's a few tips to ditch that same old jeans and jumper combo without turning into an ice cube.
Rule #1 Layers - quite an obvious one really. When you've just been shopping and you want to wear everything at once, well nows your chance. I've been getting wear out of a lot of dresses I've bought throughout the year by covering them up in an oversized knit, chunky jacket and blanket scarf. Or if you want to bring out that summer dress, layer a polo neck jumper underneath and you're good to go.
Rule #2 Hidden leggings. If like me, you're not a big fan of tights, why not sneak a pear of leggings under your outfit. A lot of my skirts are mid length and quite loose fitting, so it's easy to hide a thick pair of leggings underneath.Everyones none the wiser, but you're toasty down to the ankles. Obviously make sure you wear the right length leggings for the skirt/dress through, so they don't peep out - I've made that mistake before, not a good look.
Rule #3 Thermals. Of course as I've said, layers are a must. However If you're wanting to wear a figure hugging outfit, you don't want hundreds of tops underneath. I feel like thermals are rarely mentioned these days, but a little thermal vest works wonders when you're out in the cold all day.
Rule #4 Cute socks. A lot of my fave shoes have cut outs and peep toes so they end up at the back of my cupboard in the winter. Sometimes you need a little cut out boot in your life, so to avoid getting frost bite, get yourself some cute socks to show though the cut outs - my personal faves are of course a glittery number or even a simple block colour to tie in with your outfit.
Spring is here, so why not dare to go bare.
